CompBuddy — For Everyone

Login & Your Account

One account for every competition, every role, and every device

One account, everywhere

CompBuddy uses a personal account — not a code tied to your phone. The same account works for every competition you fly or help at, in every role, and on any device you log in on. Pilots, drivers, meet directors and admins all log in the same way.

You only need to log in once per device. CompBuddy remembers your session and opens straight to the competition list the next time you start it.

Logging in

The login screen offers several ways in. Pick whichever suits you — they all lead to the same kind of CompBuddy account.

Email & password

Enter the email and password of your CompBuddy account and tap Log In. Forgotten your password? Tap Forgot password?, enter your email, and we'll send you a link to set a new one.

Log in with Airtribune

Type your airtribune.com email and password into the same fields and tap Log in with Airtribune. CompBuddy checks them with Airtribune and logs you in — if you don't have a CompBuddy account yet, one is created for you on the spot. Your Airtribune password is never stored.

Sign in with Google / Apple

Sign in with Google works on Android and iPhone. Sign in with Apple is offered on iPhone and iPad only. The first time you use one of them, CompBuddy connects it to an existing account with the same email address, or creates a new account.

To help you remember, the login screen shows how you signed in last time on that device — e.g. "Last time on this device you signed in with Google."

If you created your account with Airtribune, Google or Apple, it has no separate CompBuddy password. That's fine — just keep using the same button. If you ever want to log in with email and password instead, use Forgot password? to set one.

Creating an account with email

  1. On the login screen, tap Create Account.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, email and a password (at least 8 characters).
  3. CompBuddy shows "Check your email". Open the verification email and tap the link — a confirmation page opens in your browser.
  4. Go back to the app and log in with your email and password.

Connecting your account to a competition

Logging in shows you the competition list, but to take part — as a pilot or as staff — your account has to be connected to your entry in that competition. There are two ways:

Staff invites can only be completed while you're logged in. If you tap a staff invite while logged out, CompBuddy asks you to log in or create an account first, then finishes connecting you automatically.

About & account

Tap the ⓘ icon on the competition list (or About in the menu inside a competition) to see your account:

  • Your name and email, and how you signed in.
  • Your role in the competition you're currently in.
  • Show QR Code — your personal account QR code and ID.
  • Log Out — takes you back to the login screen.
  • Delete my account — see below.

The same screen also shows the app version and the Sync Queue — see Maps & Offline.

More than one role in a competition

Many pilots also help out — driving, staffing a checkpoint, or organising. If your account is both a pilot and staff in the same competition, a purple switch-role icon appears in the header. Tap it to flip between the pilot screens and the staff screens instantly — no logging out. It's also available while you're still registering as a pilot.

Being a pilot in one competition and staff in another needs no switch at all: just open the other competition from the list.

Deleting your account

Delete my account on the About & account screen permanently deletes your CompBuddy account and logs you out on all devices. Your registrations in competitions stay with the organisers, but are no longer linked to you. This cannot be undone.
