CompBuddy — For Everyone

The Competition List & Public Info

Browse every competition, follow its days and tasks, and jump into your own

The competition list

After logging in, everyone lands on the same screen: a list of every competition run with CompBuddy — upcoming competitions first, past ones at the bottom. Pull down to refresh.

Each card shows the competition's map image (tap it to see it full screen), name, location, dates, and how many pilots and tasks it has. The card colour tells you where it stands: green for upcoming, amber for running now, grey for finished.

Opening a competition

What happens when you tap a card depends on whether you're part of that competition:

To get back to the list from inside a competition, tap the ‹ chevron in front of the competition name in the header.

If you have a role in a competition that's running right now, CompBuddy skips the list when you start the app and opens that competition directly. If there's more than one, it picks the one you used last.

The public competition view

Anyone logged in can follow a competition, even without taking part — friends, family, pilots looking at next year's events. The public view shows:

  • Header — map image, name, location, dates and badges.
  • Participating pilots — names, competition numbers and photos. No contact details are ever shown.
  • Days — once a competition is running, one card per day that has already started.
  • Results — for finished competitions. Coming soon

Day cards

Each day card shows the date, the day type (Race Day, Off Day, Cancelled, Stopped, …), the task type and its distance. After the day is over, the card picture becomes a map of that day's task — turnpoint cylinders, the optimised route and where pilots made level calls (see level calls).

The task

The task screen shows only published tasks, marked Provisional or Final:

  • Task type, turn direction and distances (optimised and through centres).
  • Window open, race start and start gates, start enter/exit, window close, race end, finish altitude — and the stop time if the task was stopped. All times are shown in the competition's local time.
  • The list of waypoints: launch, start (SSS), turnpoints and goal.
  • View Task Map — the task on a map with the competition HQ and that day's level and SOS calls.
  • Task board photo — a picture of the physical task board, if the meet director took one.
  • Task QR — scan it into XCTrack or a Naviter Oudie to load the task without typing a single turnpoint.

Pilot feedback

Every task day, pilots answer a few short safety questions. The feedback screen shows the result for the day: the standard satisfaction and safety ratings (on a 1–10 scale), any additional rating questions, and anonymous comments.

Everything is grouped by the pilots' CIVL world ranking — Top 500, 501–1000 and 1000+ / unranked — because how a task felt depends a lot on experience.

Results & live leaderboard Coming soon

Day results, overall results and a live leaderboard during the task are being built as a separate project. Until then, you may see these entries in the app with sample data — use Airtribune for the official results.
