Overview
CompBuddy keeps you and the competition's safety team connected, from registration to the last task. Once you're registered and checked in, opening your competition shows your pilot home screen. It has two tabs:
- Info — things that stay the same all competition: your pilot ID and QR code, radio frequencies, the safety contact, and the feedback overview.
- Daily — what matters today: the task, retrieve, daily feedback, and today's and tomorrow's schedule.

- Your name and pilot number, and below it the competition's name, location and dates.
- ‹ in front of the competition name — back to the competition list.
- Bell — notifications from the organisation, with a badge for unread ones.
- Speech bubble — direct messages with the safety team.
- ☰ Menu — About & account.
- Purple switch-role icon — only if you're also staff in this competition.
- Red crossed-out Wi-Fi — only when you're offline (see Maps & Offline).

Pilot ID & QR code
Your competition number in big letters — tap it to copy — with your name and your personal QR code. Staff scan this QR code at checkpoints, at the retrieve vehicle and when handing out trackers. It belongs to your account, not your phone, so it works on whichever device you're logged in on — and it's available offline.

Safety contact — not for retrieve!
The competition's safety contact, for real emergencies only. The red SOS button opens WhatsApp with an SOS message to the safety contact, including your name, pilot number and a map link to your current position. Never use it to ask for a retrieve.

How the whole field rated each task day — see Pilot feedback. If you haven't sent your own feedback for today yet, CompBuddy takes you to the feedback questions first.
Daily tab
From top to bottom:
- Today's Task — appears once the meet director publishes the task, marked Provisional, Final or Task Stopped. Tap it for the full task.
- Retrieve — how you tell the retrieve team you're safe or need a pickup (see below).
- Daily Feedback — the short safety questionnaire for today's task.
- Live Leaderboard Coming soon
- Today and Tomorrow — the schedule of briefings, desks and checkpoints.
Before the competition starts, the Daily tab shows the schedule of the first day instead, and feedback stays closed. Everything on this tab is explained in detail on Comp Days.
Retrieve
The retrieve card depends on how your competition organises retrieve — you'll only see the one that applies:
- CompBuddy retrieve — turn on Request Retrieve when you need to be picked up, then tap Send My Location to share your exact GPS position with the retrieve team. Turn it off when you're sorted.
- WhatsApp retrieve — two buttons write the WhatsApp message for you: "I'm safe, no retrieve needed" or "I'm safe, need retrieve at location" (with a map link to where you are).
- Flymaster retrieve — retrieve runs through your Flymaster tracker and the Telegram retrieve bot. Expand the card to see the exact registration command for your pilot number and the SAFE / RET commands.
Notifications & messages
Important information reaches you as a push notification, so it doesn't get lost in busy WhatsApp groups: task published or changed, window open and closed, race start changes, a stopped task, event notifications and announcements from the organisation. All of them are kept under the bell.
The speech bubble holds direct conversations with the safety team. Conversations are started by the organisation; you can reply in any conversation you've received.
