The steps at a glance
- Log in — with your CompBuddy, Airtribune, Google or Apple account.
- Get connected to your competition — invite email or QR code.
- Verify WhatsApp — one pre-written message.
- Check your data and pick your Safety Buddy.
- Check in at the registration desk — in person, with your QR code.
Steps 1–4 can be done at home before you travel. Step 5 happens on site.
1. Log in
Install CompBuddy and log in — or create an account if this is your first time. The quickest way is Log in with Airtribune, using the same email and password as on airtribune.com. All the options are explained on Login & Account.

Once you're logged in you see the list of all competitions. To take part, CompBuddy has to know which pilot entry in the competition is yours:
- Invite email — if the organiser sent you one, tap the link in it and then Open CompBuddy. You're connected and taken straight into the competition.
- QR code — otherwise, open About & account (the ⓘ on the competition list) → Show QR Code, and let the competition staff scan it.
Once you're connected, the competition's card shows You're a Pilot. Until then, tapping it only opens the public view — pull down on the list to refresh.

The safety team needs a WhatsApp number they can reach you on. Tap Open WhatsApp — the registration message (competition, pilot number and date of birth) is already written for you. Just send it as it is.
4. Check your data and pick a Safety Buddy
CompBuddy now shows your registration data from Airtribune. Please check it and fill in what's missing:
- Personal details, contact, licences, insurance and emergency contact — filled in from Airtribune; many fields can be corrected right here.
- Glider & harness — start typing the manufacturer and model; the built-in equipment list suggests matches and fills in size and weight range. If yours isn't listed, just type it in.
- Glider certificate — shows whether a certificate is on file at Airtribune. If the competition requires one, you have to upload it at Airtribune before you can finish.
Safety Buddy
Required. Pick another pilot in the competition — someone you know — as your safety contact for the event. Tap the field to see all pilots, or type a name.
Tick the box confirming you checked your data and tap Confirm & Complete Registration. If the button is greyed out, its label tells you what's still missing.
5. Check in at the registration desk
Your online registration is done — but the competition still wants to see you (and your paperwork) in person. Until then, your home screen shows only a red "Not yet registered" card with your pilot number, your name and your QR code.
At the registration desk, show that QR code. Staff scan it, and a moment later your full home screen appears by itself — no need to refresh.
