Before you start
The driver screen is built around your vehicle. An admin assigns you a vehicle in the staff editor; until then the screen says "No vehicle assigned to you. Contact Admin."
Pilots are assigned to your vehicle by the retrieve coordinator or an admin.
Three panes: Pilots, Chat, Map
The driver screen has three parts. How they're arranged depends on the screen:
- On a phone — three tabs: Pilots, Chat and Map.
- On a tablet or wide screen (900 px and wider, e.g. a tablet mounted in the car) — everything at once: the pilot list on top of the chat on the left, the map on the right. Drag the dividers to give the map or the list more room.

Assigned Pilots · <your vehicle> lists every pilot the retrieve coordinator has given you, with their state:
- Pending… — assigned to you, no location yet.
- Location shared — the pilot sent their position. Tap the map icon to open navigation to them in Google Maps.
- In Vehicle (14:32) — picked up, with the time.
Picking a pilot up
Tap the scan icon and scan the QR code on the pilot's phone. They're checked into your vehicle, and the coordinator sees it immediately. Only pilots already assigned to your vehicle can be scanned in — for anyone else you'll see "Pilot not found or check-in failed"; ask the coordinator to assign them to you (they can also add them to your vehicle directly). Picked up the wrong person, or someone gets out early? Tap remove on their row.
Back at HQ
Tap Unload All to check every pilot out of your vehicle at once — they're logged as retrieved.
Below the pilots you'll find the Today and Tomorrow schedule. Events with check-in or check-out can be tapped to scan pilots, just like for Staff.

Chat
A direct chat with the competition's retrieve coordinator — for "can you also take pilot 123?", "road closed, going round" and everything else that doesn't belong in a group chat. If the competition has no retrieve coordinator yet, the pane says so.

Today's task with your assigned pilots. Your own vehicle is one combined marker — your name, the vehicle and how many pilots are on board. Pilots who are in the vehicle are tucked into that marker; tap it to fan them out. Tap a pilot marker to navigate to them. The ⓘ in the header opens the map legend.

All maps in CompBuddy use the same symbols:
- Flying pilot — an arrow pointing the pilot's heading. Green fill = climbing, red = sinking, blue = near zero. A thicker outline means 50 m above ground or lower. The name label darkens, then turns red, the older the last position is.
- Tracker source dot — a coloured dot on the arrow when the position doesn't come from the Flymaster tracker (e.g. from an inReach or SPOT).
- Level calls — numbered circles: green 1, amber 2, red 3. See Trackers.
- SOS — always shown, never hidden by any filter.
- Vehicle / driver — driver, vehicle and pilots on board; the small light shows how fresh the driver's tracker position is (green under 10 minutes).
- HQ — pilots back at HQ or marked DNF are grouped here; tap to fan them out.
