Who it's for
The Retrieve Manager is the home screen of the Retrieve Coordinator — the one person at the desk (HQ, landing field, or the back of a car) who keeps track of every pilot who has landed and sends the drivers to pick them up. A competition has one retrieve coordinator; every driver's chat goes to them.
It needs the competition's retrieve method set to CompBuddy in Competition Settings. Otherwise it shows "CompBuddy retrieve not activated for this competition".
Made for a tablet
Retrieve is a desk job, so the Retrieve Manager is built to show everything at once on a big screen:
- Tablet or wide screen (900 px and wider — a tablet in landscape, or most tablets in portrait): the pilot list top-left, the driver chats bottom-left, and the live map filling the right side. Drag the dividers to resize the panes.
- Phone: the same three panes as tabs — Pilots, Chat, Map.

Filter chips at the top narrow the list:
- All — every pilot.
- Requesting — pilots who asked for a retrieve and aren't assigned yet.
- Landed — pilots whose tracker says they've landed.
- Assigned — given to a driver, waiting for pickup.
- Picked up — in a vehicle.
Assigned and picked-up pilots are sorted by driver, so each car's pilots are listed together. Above the list, the collapsible Pilot Status section shows the tracker status grid (see Trackers).
Pilot actions
Tap a pilot to see what you can do:
- Tracker Info — the pilot's latest tracker report.
- Show on Map — pan the map to the pilot.
- Assign to Vehicle — give the pilot to a driver (listed by driver name). The pilot shows up in that driver's list as pending pickup.
- Add to Vehicle — same as the driver scanning them in now, e.g. when the driver tells you by chat.
- Remove from Vehicle — once a pilot is in a vehicle.
- Cancel Retrieve Request.
- Set Self Retrieve — the pilot is getting back on their own.
- Set In Goal — the pilot landed in goal.
retrieve_pilot_actions.jpgDriver chats
One chat per driver. On a tablet, a strip of driver avatars sits above the conversation — tap one to switch; a red number shows unread messages. On a phone, the Chat tab lists the drivers with their last message.
retrieve_chat.jpgThe live map
The map shows today's task with pilots, drivers and calls, refreshed about every 30 seconds. Toggle chips choose what's drawn — they can be combined, and all are on when you open the screen:
- All — every pilot (except DNF), whatever their state.
- Flying, Landed, Requesting, Assigned — pilots in that state.
- Drivers — each vehicle with its driver and pilots on board.
- Staff trackers — other staff carrying a tracker.
- Level calls — numbered circles where pilots called a level.
SOS calls are always shown, no matter which toggles are off. Type a pilot number into the search field to jump straight to that pilot. Long-press a vehicle for Empty Vehicle — checks everyone out of it and logs them as retrieved, like the driver's Unload All.
The map symbols are explained on the Driver page.
Retrieve tab for admins and meet directors
Admins and meet directors have a lighter version in the Retrieve tab of their bottom bar: the list of retrieve requests with Assigned and In Vehicle filters, the same pilot actions, and View All on Map for a global retrieve map. It's handy to look over the coordinator's shoulder, or to stand in for them.
