The Master role
Masters run CompBuddy itself. A master has full admin access to every competition — every card in the competition list opens the admin screens, including private competitions — plus a few tools no one else has. The master role isn't given per competition; it's switched on for an account in Account Management.
Adding a competition
On the competition list, masters have an Add competition button. It lists upcoming Airtribune competitions that aren't in CompBuddy yet, soonest first, with a name filter. Pick one and confirm — or enter an Airtribune competition ID by hand from the top bar.
CompBuddy then imports the competition and runs the setup steps below automatically. If a step fails, it says which one, and you can re-run it from Master Setup.
master_add_comp.jpgMaster Setup
☰ → Master Setup shows the setup steps for the current competition. Competition, Pilots, Questions and Events are safe to re-run any time to re-sync from the source:
- Competition — the base record from Airtribune: name, dates, timezone.
- Pilots — imports or updates the pilot list from Airtribune.
- Questions — loads the competition's feedback questions.
- Days — creates a day for every day of the competition.
- Events — fills the competition's event list from the defaults.
When the competition is over
- Close Competition — unlinks every pilot's and staff member's account, so they can no longer open it. No pilot, staff or competition data is touched, so this is easy to undo.
- Delete Competition — permanently deletes the competition and everything in it: pilots, staff, days, vehicles, tracker history. This cannot be undone.
Account Management
☰ → Account Management lists every CompBuddy account, searchable by name or email. Open one to:
- Edit the first name, last name and email.
- Switch Master on or off.
- Unlock an account locked after too many failed logins.
- Force Logout — end the account's sessions on all devices.
- Send Password Reset.
- Delete Account — pilot and staff entries linked to it are unlinked.
Developer mode
Masters can preview the app as any other role — pilot, staff, driver, retrieve coordinator, meet director or admin — to check what others see. While a preview is active, an orange icon in the header ends it.
