Overview
CompBuddy has one app for pilots and staff — what you see depends on your role in the competition. There are six role levels, from full account management down to a single-purpose checkpoint role:
- Admin — day-to-day competition management: setup, invites, checkpoints, notifications.
- Meet Director (MD) — owns the daily task: import, edit, publish, and control the task window.
- Driver — retrieve vehicle logistics: map of pilots, check pilots into the vehicle.
- Staff — checkpoint duty: scan pilots in and out at assigned checkpoints.

The checkpoint schedule
Every staff-side home screen shows the same "Today's Checkpoints" / "Tomorrow" card pilots see — but for staff, checkpoints that have check-in or check-out enabled are tappable. Tapping one opens Continuous Check-in or Continuous Check-out: a scan loop that stays open so you can scan pilot after pilot without re-opening it each time. Each scan is matched against the pilot list and logged with a timestamp immediately.
Multiple competitions, or more than one role
Just like on the pilot side, two icons can appear next to your name in the header:
- Switch Competition — if your account is active in more than one competition.
- Switch Role — if you're registered as both staff and a pilot in the same competition (a common setup for pilots who also help with retrieve or checkpoints). This flips your entire view between the staff screens and the pilot screens instantly.
